      Hi!!
How can I open “*.mat” files corresponding to the transfer function? I have tried using MATLAB without result.

        Dear Zouhair,

We are sorry for the late reply.
        Somehow we missed your post.
To answer your question, we are sorry again.

The “.mat” file is not a MATLAB file.
Please see the document on this format at

          Dear Yuka,
Don’t worry about the late reply:)
I have already seen the document ‘https://www.hark.jp/document/2.4.0/hark-document-en/sect0031.html’, but I’m sorry because I can’t see the answer of my question on it.
As I understood form the question number 111 in “FAQ” , to check if the transfer function was correctly generated there are two ways:
1-Looking if the localization and recognition results match
          OR
2-Openning the ‘.mat’ file and checking the content directly
My question is :How can I look at the content of my ‘.mat’ files directly?
          Best regards,
          Zouhair

            Dear Zouhair,
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Now I understand that you are talking about FAQ 111.
You can use one of the harktool5-cui tools, harktoolcli-mat2csv, to convert the mat file that you want to look at to a csv file.
            https://www.hark.jp/document/2.4.0/packages/harktool5/harktool5.html#harktoolcli-mat2csv

If you are using Windows version of HARK, then you should have it in your PC.
Type the following command in the Command Prompt:
            harktoolcli-mat2csv –help

If you are using Ubuntu version of HARK, then you need to install harktool5-cui by typing the following commands in the terminal:
            sudo apt-get install harktool5
Then, you can use harktoolcli-mat2csv in your terminal.

We are sorry that we are not providing the document for harktool5-cui in English.
Instead, we have an update for you regarding the answer to FAQ 111.
            We released harktool5-gui.
            https://hark.jp/wiki.cgi?page=Softwares#p10

With harktool5-gui, you can visualize the transfer function.
            1. Upload your transfer function in zip format on the top screen.
            2. Display Transfer Function Screen.
            3. Select ‘Localization/Separation’ for TF type.
            4. Click on Graph Plot button.

You can check the document in the following link:
            https://www.hark.jp/document/2.4.0/packages/harktool5-gui-en/harktool5-gui.html

I hope I was able to answer to your question for this time.

            Sincerely,

            Yuka, HARK Support Team

              Dear Yuka,
              Thank you for your answer!
I couldn’t use Harktool5 because I got some errors when installing it, which affected hark-designer. Now when I run hark-designer I get the attached images.
I’m using HARK 2.2 version. Could the problem be related with this?
Once I have solved these issues, I will let you know how it went.
              Best,
              Zouhair

                Dear Zouhair,
I really am sorry I assumed you were using the latest version of HARK, 2.4.
harktool5-GUI works with HARK2.4 or later.
Do you think you can update HARK to the latest version?

By the way, I just want to make sure to avoid any more misunderstanding.
The harktool5 that you are talking about is harktool5-GUI, not harktool5-CUI.
                Correct?

                Sincerely,

                Yuka, HARK Support Team

                  Dear Yuka,
Thank you very much for your answer!
I have previously installed the last version of HARK but I couldn’t make it work with Kinect. So instead I’m using HARK2.2 because it is the latest version that has been tested using Kinect microphones.
                  Yes. I’m talking about harktool5-GUI.
Thank you again for your help:)
                  Best,
                  Zouhair
