      Dear José Rosa,

      > I want to be able to sound locate in an environment all around the cube and in all elevations.

Please refer the manual for generating a transfer function by geometric-calculation-based method and specify your desired elevation positions in a Sound Source Positions XML file in HARKTOOL5-GUI. The manual uses a circle template but you can use cylinder, sphere, or grid.

      Sincerely,

      HARK Support Team

        Dear Zeca Rosa,

It is true that the microphone arrangement is an important factor for sound source localization by Measurement-based method (Recording TSP responses is required). It would be difficult to localize elevation of sound source with 2D microphone array such as TAMAGO. To work with sound source localization in 3D setup, we recommend using a microphone array whose microphones are three-dimensionally arranged if you can.

You can try Geometric-calculation-based method. Since recording TSP responses is not required, it would be worth to try to see how it goes. You just need to specify all elevations that you plan to use for sound source localization by editing Sound Source Positions XML file.

        Sincerely,

        HARK Support Team

          Dear Zeca Rosa,

          Thank you for using HARK.
We are sorry for the late reply.
The transfer function you downloaded from our support page was generated using TSP responses whose sound source elevations are all the same. (Please see our supported hardware page for the details: https://hark.jp/document/supported/)In another words, the recording setup of the sample transfer functions are 2D, not 3D. So, the sample transfer functions that we are providing will not work for 3D setup. If you need to work with 3D setup, then you will need to create a transfer function on your own. We just released manuals for transfer function generation. (https://hark.jp/document/transfer-function-generation-manuals/)
We hope those manuals will be helpful.

          Sincerely,

            Dear Gabriel,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience with the node installation.
To enable PlayAudio, please add the following option for configure when compiling the sources.

            –enable-playaudio

This requires libsdl2 so please install beforehand with the following commandline command if it is not installed.

            sudo apt install libsdl2-dev

Thank you very much for pointing this problem.
We would appreciate if you could tell us what nodes also not installed.
We would like to fix the problem and update the documents accordingly.

            Sincerely,

              Dear ax,

Unfortunately, we do not have a sample network which demonstrates SemiBlindICA at hand, but we suspect that the TAP_LOWFREQ value may be causing the problem.
This value needs to be set larger when the environment contains a long reverberation as described in the document: https://www.hark.jp/document/hark-document-en/subsec-SemiBlindICA.html

A spacious environment like concert halls/churches or setting a microphone array and a speaker apart from each other cause “a long reverberation.”

If these are not applicable, please give us more details of your working environment and parameter vaules you set on SemiBlindICA.

              Sincerely,

              HARK Support Team

                Dear Zouhair,
I really am sorry I assumed you were using the latest version of HARK, 2.4.
harktool5-GUI works with HARK2.4 or later.
Do you think you can update HARK to the latest version?

By the way, I just want to make sure to avoid any more misunderstanding.
The harktool5 that you are talking about is harktool5-GUI, not harktool5-CUI.
                Correct?

                Sincerely,

                  Dear Zouhair,
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Now I understand that you are talking about FAQ 111.
You can use one of the harktool5-cui tools, harktoolcli-mat2csv, to convert the mat file that you want to look at to a csv file.
                  https://www.hark.jp/document/2.4.0/packages/harktool5/harktool5.html#harktoolcli-mat2csv

If you are using Windows version of HARK, then you should have it in your PC.
Type the following command in the Command Prompt:
                  harktoolcli-mat2csv –help

If you are using Ubuntu version of HARK, then you need to install harktool5-cui by typing the following commands in the terminal:
                  sudo apt-get install harktool5
Then, you can use harktoolcli-mat2csv in your terminal.

We are sorry that we are not providing the document for harktool5-cui in English.
Instead, we have an update for you regarding the answer to FAQ 111.
                  We released harktool5-gui.
                  https://hark.jp/wiki.cgi?page=Softwares#p10

With harktool5-gui, you can visualize the transfer function.
                  1. Upload your transfer function in zip format on the top screen.
                  2. Display Transfer Function Screen.
                  3. Select ‘Localization/Separation’ for TF type.
                  4. Click on Graph Plot button.

You can check the document in the following link:
                  https://www.hark.jp/document/2.4.0/packages/harktool5-gui-en/harktool5-gui.html

I hope I was able to answer to your question for this time.

                  Sincerely,

                    Dear Zouhair,

                    Somehow we missed your post.
To answer your question, we are sorry again.

The “.mat” file is not a MATLAB file.

Question: I have tried the samples in your documentation for HARK but the BeamForming node cannot be found in the Ubuntu version of HARK. What might be the problem?

Answer: Since BeamForming is provided with another package, hark-sss, you need to install it beforehand:
                        apt-get install hark-sss
Then, in HARK Designer, click Preferences -> Packages and activate hark-sss package.

                          Hello lag,

Thank you for participating in HARK Forum.
I am not sure how unconventional it can be to use HARK in your place (sorry my poor imagination), but I do understand you have no choice but creating your own TF.

                          > Any tips regarding the volume/power I should play the tsp at ?

TSP needs to be louder than the sound source that you actually want to localize later using your own TF.
It shouldn’t be too loud, though.
You can check the TSP data with sound editor such as Audacity by viewing it in spectrum mode to see if the data are too loud or not.
If the data are too loud, then the reflection will appear too clear.

                          Best,

                          HARK Support Team

                            Thank you for using HARK.
For PlayStation Eye, I assume you have read http://hark.jp/wiki.cgi?page=SupportedHardware#p3
and downloaded Transfer Function at http://hark.jp/wiki.cgi?page=SupportedHardware#p10
If the transfer function by TSP recordings does not perform well with tuning the THRESHOLD, then please try the other one by Geometrically Calculation and tune the THRESHOLD again.
To tune the value of THRESHOLD, please do the following:
                            1. Turn DEBUG, the parameter of SourceTracker node, ON
                            2. Run HARK
                            3. Obtain the results
                            4. Set THRESHOLD, the parameter of SourceTracker node, to be the middle value from the results above
                            5. Turn DEBUG, the parameter of SourceTracker node, OFF

                            http://www.hark.jp/document/hark-document-en/subsec-SourceTracker.html
                            http://www.hark.jp/document/hark-document-en/subsec-HarkParamsDynReconf.html

If it’s still not working, then you need to generate your own transfer function.

Thank you very much for your help.

I went through the three steps, and the issue was solved in step3. Now HARK is running fine in Firefox.

Before,as you assume, HARK Designer was running fine in Ubuntu 14.04.

                                  The issue started:

                                  – I formated and deleted the Ubuntu’s 14.04 partition

-I made new partition and I installed Ubuntu 14.04, I updated my drivers, and I installed HARK 2.3.1

Hope this information is helpful. If you need further information, or if you need me to do further checkups, I’ll be glad to do it.
